The biggest problem with LinkedIn… 👀

Is people wanting something from you. 🫴

Instead, approach it with a givers mentality 🙂

DON’T say “I’m looking for a new job (so give me an opportunity, sympathy, hope)”

DO say “Here’s what I learned at my last job. By the way, I’m available…”

DON’T say “Here’s a picture of me looking smart and focused at a conference (so give me credit for looking important, connected, and living a life you’d want to live)”

DO say “Get yourself down to this conference, we’ve just learned about ABC from Prof Big Brain and are looking at XYZ with Dr Expert next…”

DON’T say “Here’s the new book that I’m going to read (so give me approval for the investment and intent to study something)”

SAY “Here’s the book I just read, here are the key lessons and why I think you should get/avoid it.”

Be a giver, not a taker. 👌

And yes, I do have to remind myself of this occasionally… I did look good at that conference a couple of weeks ago.
