I always found it a little strange that when you become a project manager, you tend to get jobs where you’re working alone – because it’s a small project, and perceived as lower risk, so you should be able to handle it yourself.
But it’s your first time, and you have the entire burden of expectation on you that would, in other projects, be shared across a team.
Maybe the small, simple, one person projects should only be delivered by those with experience and a track record of success?
And new project managers should work on slightly bigger projects, but with supportive teams?
Just a thought.
What do you think? Am I way off on this one?
